Octavo is Tellwell's author portal, the system connecting you to the publishing talent working on your book: project managers, editors, designers, illustrators and book marketing consultants.
To access your project page on Octavo, go to portal.tellwell.ca and login with your email address on file. Any tasks currently assigned to you are shown below the "Current Tasks In Progress" heading. Whenever you complete a task, be sure to click Complete Task at the top left and then Submit.
Publishing a book can be a complicated process, and there are a lot of details to keep track of throughout the process. Octavo helps ensure each task gets completed at the correct stage in the process, stores all important files and data in the right places, and gives you the resources and information you need to complete each task along the way.
Here's how the process works:
- We email you when action is needed (e.g., before we begin your first cover design draft, you’ll need to select you book setup details and complete a cover design questionnaire);
- You complete and submit the task in Octavo;
- We work on your book (e.g. complete a cover design);
- Then the ball comes back to your court for review and approval, with another email notification and task to complete.
We respect your right to work on your book at your own pace, so publishing timelines we give do not include the time it takes you to respond when the ball is in your court.
Our goal is to empower you with helpful resources and expert guidance so you can make informed decisions about your book. We ask that you think critically and take your time with each task, reading the provided resources carefully. Doing so is in your own best interest since you retain 100% control and ownership of your book, which also means you're responsible for its content.
