If your book was enrolled in Tellwell's Managed Distribution program, and you've requested that it be unpublished (by contacting us at support@tellwell.ca), this will cancel the book's availability to all online retailers within 7-10 business days.
Many retailers (such as Amazon) may still keep your title listed and viewable on their websites (this is not within Tellwell or the distributor's control). This does not necessarily mean it will still be available to purchase.
However, in some instances you may even see retail listings showing your book as in stock and available for purchase even after the title has been unpublished. This happens when retailers are fulfilling orders from their inventory which has been built up in the past, but all copies have not yet been sold. Note that royalties are earned when the distributor prints the book, not when the book is purchased through the retailer.
- When a book shows a spike in sales, retailers may stock up on books in anticipation of continued demand, which allows them to offer faster shipping. Therefore if a retailer like Amazon stocks up on 20 copies of your book in February, but doesn't sell all of them, royalties for all 20 copies will be earned in February, and the book will remain available until every copy is sold, whether or not the book has been unpublished.
Your outstanding royalties will be paid out according to the schedule of payment laid out in our terms and conditions. For more information on royalty payments, click here
