If you have published a book and it is available for sale at an online retailer such as Amazon, you probably want people to be able to search for and find your book!
However, there are countless other authors selling their books online, plus millions of other sellers offering a host of different items, many of which may have similar titles or keywords to your book.
As a result, online retailers often have complicated search algorithms that attempt to connect buyers to the products they're looking for. Consequently, if your book shares keywords and categories with many other popular products, you may need to click and scroll through multiple pages of search results for other books/products before finding your book.
One way to quickly find your book on any given retail site is to search for:
"Book Title by Author Name"
For example, perhaps you have written a memoir, and one of your categories is "autobiography". While that category is very accurate to the content of your book, simply searching for "autobiography" is going to return thousands of results, many related to popular biographies of famous people, which like it or not, will more than likely come before your book in the search results.
This means that it is exceedingly important to market your book, driving authors directly to the online listings, without relying on would-be readers to stumble upon your book by searching keywords alone.
